Flycandler proposes resolving tiff
Societyvs: I would try to resolve my little tiff with Jim Jordan (who continues to attack me behind my back without telling me) were he to allow me to respond to his attacks.
Flycandler posted this over at Dagoods's blog. I've disabled comment moderation so we can "resolve" our "little tiff". I hold no animosity toward my fellow PCUSA member. I'm looking forward to his resolution.

A great first step would be for you to stop lying about me. A great second step would be for you to stop lying about yourself.
Since you mentioned the PC(USA), you've repeatedly trashed both the church and its theology. You've been saying for months now that you were on the cusp of leaving the PC(USA) because of its heretical views on birth control and the equality of GLBT members. You've even tried to resurrect the fight over the Blue Hymnal that was settled almost twenty years ago. Other than assuming your previous answer ("to sow discord") wasn't tongue-in-cheek after all, why do you allow yourself and your family to be associated with a group whose views you apparently find repugnant?
I was going to leave the PCUSA only if you would stop harassing me. Some views I find repugnant (most of them are not), but it's an organization and the only perfect organization is in Heaven.
So, how are we going to resolve our tiff?
I have no complaint about you. The slanderous statements I protested because they are slanderous, not because you wrote them.
You continue to say that I am not a Christian because I disagree with you on certain political issues. Incidentally, the Presbyterian Church also disagrees with you on those issues. Lord knows the PC(USA) is far, FAR from perfect, but there is a substantive difference between those of us who love our church and are trying to build it up and those who detest the church and are trying to sow discord. Here's a hint: who recently, a propos of nothing, tried to rip the scab off of a 20-year-old wound in the church?
Are you now saying that your threats to leave the PC(USA) were not in fact genuine? Are you now embracing the Book of Confessions rather than ridiculing it? Are you embracing the denomination's stated position on abortion and the treatment of LGBT people, Jews and Muslims? Or was it simply too embarrassing for you to tell your Clerk of Session that you wanted the names of you and your family taken off the rolls of the PC(USA)?
One of the reasons I cannot abide hypocrites is that I can never figure out what their true intentions are.
1. Didn't know there was a blood-drawing feud over the hymns twenty years ago.
2. I was clear that I'd leave PCUSA if you promised to stop hurling insults at me.
3. I don't see where "hypocrite" comes in. One doesn't have to be in lock step with every church edict, particularly ones that are not biblical.
1. Yes. Did you also know that we are follow in the theological tradition of John Calvin?
2. Was this a lie or not?
3. Look up the word "hypocrite".
By the way, how am I "ridiculing" the Book of Confessions? Isn't that what the leaders of PCUSA are doing?
No, it isn't. Since you have no idea that there was a General Assembly this year, lemme give you one of the highlights. The democratically-elected delegates voted, within the framework of the constitution, to revert the text of the Heidelberg Catechism to more closely match the original German. As we've discussed before, the word "homosexual" was invented only about 100 years ago, long after either the Bible or Heidelberg were written.
Of course, rather than deal with subtlety, you'd rather lie about other people.
